Janet Milton

Janet’s successful career encompasses a vast range of experience and expertise and it is one marked by innovation. She has seen the UK property market wax and wane and boom once more and she helped shape some of these events.
Head girl at Colne Valley High School and a keen hockey player, she began her legal career in local government. She acquired robust forensic and advocacy skills when representing her local authority in child care proceedings and in prosecutions under the Sunday Trading Act 1994.
After qualifying she became the in-house solicitor, for Vallens, a major regional electric goods retailer. She was then moved to the Bradford & Bingley Building Society as senior solicitor.
Later, she was appointed director of legal services for a US based financial services provider, The Mortgage Corporation. Her wide ranging commercial law practice included adapting TMC’s innovative centralised lending service for the highly regulated UK market.
Janet was head-hunted again by another American owned new entrant-disrupter to the UK financial services industry, to head the UK legal team at Stuart Title Insurance.
In 1998 Janet moved into private practice, incepting Solicitors Title, a niche commercial law firm based in Exeter, where she was the managing partner. In 2019 Solicitors Title took over the well respected county town law firm Broomhead & Saul, to offers its commercial clients a wide range of first rate private client services. Janet now remains with AmicusLaw as a consultant solicitor.
