SEND Support Evening for Parents and Carers

,

For many families, navigating the SEND system can feel like stepping into a maze you never asked to enter. There is terminology to understand, processes to follow and decisions to make that can feel overwhelming when all you want is the right support for your child.

At Amicus Law Solicitors, we know how isolating that can feel. That is why we are hosting a free, welcoming evening at The Den Coffee House on 24th April 2026 designed to bring parents and carers together, offer clear guidance and create space for honest, reassuring conversation.

A Calm and Informative Start to the Evening

7:00 – 8:00 | PAP Letter Information Session with Rebecca Roberts

We begin with a practical, down‑to‑earth session led by our colleague Rebecca Roberts, focusing on Pre‑Action Protocol (PAP) letters. These can be a vital step when a local authority’s decisions around SEND provision are not meeting a child’s needs.

During this session, Rebecca will explain:

• What a PAP letter is and why it exists
• When parents might need to consider one
• How to begin the process with confidence
• What the local authority’s response should look like
• Common questions from families facing similar challenges

Our aim is not only to offer information, but to help parents feel more empowered and less alone as they navigate decisions they never expected to make.

Exploring What the Future May Hold

8:00 – 9:00 | SEND White Paper Discussion: Every Child Achieving and Thriving

The second half of the evening focuses on the new SEND white paper and what it could mean for families going forward. Policy changes can feel distant and abstract until they affect your life directly. This open session is designed to bridge that gap.

We will talk through:

• The key proposals in the new white paper
• How these changes could shape future support
• What may happen with EHCPs and local provision
• What parents and carers should be aware of now
• Shared experiences and reflections from those in the room

This is a chance not only to understand the white paper, but to ask questions in a safe, inclusive environment where every concern is treated with respect.

What Makes This Evening Special

We know that SEND conversations can be emotional, frustrating and, at times, exhausting. That is why we have chosen a warm and relaxed venue and built an evening centred on community as much as information.

On the night you can expect:

• A judgement‑free, supportive atmosphere
• Space to speak openly or simply listen
• Tea, coffee and the chance to connect with others on a similar journey
• Honest guidance grounded in experience and care

At Amicus Law Solicitors, we believe in clarity, integrity and walking alongside families with compassion. This event reflects those values in every detail.
